NWIRA Member and Guest Clubs' Coaches and Officials:
We believe in playing fair. We believe that ethically-based and safe sport enriches all our sporting experiences, and allows for sporting excellence. In keeping with these principles, we wanted to make sure the 2009 regatta results truly reflected the outcome of the competition conducted on August 21 and 22 at Lake Elmo. Subsequently, Canadian members of the NWIRA Executive Committee, who were not participants in the regatta, have spent the last few days reviewing, analyzing and determining athlete eligibility status and race results.
The athletes' status are to remain as they are. The Canadian Committee members then proceeded to verify the NWIRA aggregate points assigned in each event and made corrections as appropriate. The following is the aggregate points total for the Sir Thomas Lipton Cup:
Minnesota Boat Club 630.65
Minneapolis Rowing Club 626.60
Duluth Rowing Club 179.10
Milwaukee Rowing Club 96.20
Winnipeg Rowing Club 62.90
Kenora Rowing Club 59.35
St. Croix Rowing Club 53.50
Twin Cities Youth Rowing 43.50
Regina Rowing Club 24.50
Thunder Bay Rowing Club 16.00
Unaffiliated 13.60
Rochester Rowing Club 8.00
The other aggregates will be adjusted based on the corrected race results. These will be announced when the NWIRA Secretary posts the detailed regatta results no later than Sunday, August 30, 2009.
The Executive Committee would like to thank all the participating clubs for being patient with us in reviewing and posting the results. We congratulate all athletes for their quest for excellence and being champion rowers. We look forward to all clubs and athletes' continual commitment to fair play, excellence, and friendly competition by racing all out at next years regatta. Arrangements are being made to have the Sir Thomas Lipton Cup in St. Paul this fall for a well earned celebration.
Thank you.
